A credit union is a not-for-profit, mutual savings/lending institution, which is entirely owned and operated by its members.

New Century was originally chartered as NeKan Bell Federal Credit Union and served only the Bell Telephone System employees being paid out of the Northeast headquarters in Topeka. In 1972, the Board of Directors recommended, and the members agreed, to convert to a State of Kansas charter, which allowed more competitive services. Eventually, because of down sizing at SBTC, it became necessary to enlarge our field of membership in order to grow and serve our members with the best services possible. Several groups of potential members were then added. In 1996, to indicate services were not limited to Bell employees, the name was changed to New Century Credit Union. It was felt the new name would not only be less restrictive, but would also indicate our futuristic attitudes toward new technologies.

As we move into the new millennium and as new products are marketed, New Century Credit Union members are assured they will be offered the best services the financial industry has to offer.
